The Challenge
Ali’s existing bathroom was trapped in the past with heavy terracotta tiles, dated fixtures, and a layout that felt cramped and "tired." Prioritising baths over showers, Ali desperately needed a space that felt like a high-end spa rather than a utility room. The challenge was twofold: the footprint was exceptionally tight, and Ali’s specific aesthetic, a love for sparkle and light, required a finish that standard UK bathroom suppliers simply couldn't provide.

The Homebird Approach
I reimagined the space from the ground up, focusing on spatial flow and the high-spec textures that Ali loves. This project was a masterclass in detail-oriented project management:

Bespoke Bathing: I sourced a deep, luxurious Japanese-style soaking tub. This clever choice allowed Ali to have the full-depth spa experience she craves while actually freeing up floor space compared to a traditional long bath.

Technical Artistry: To achieve Ali’s dream of a glitter-finish sanctuary, we used a specialist iridescent paint imported directly from Italy. I worked as the technical lead between Ali and the supplier, mastering the complex multi-stage preparation and application processes to ensure the finish was not only dazzlingly sparkly but also waterproof.

Precision Engineering: In a room this size, every millimetre counts. I handled all the measuring and layout planning to ensure that the vanity, toilet and bath lived in harmony, creating a much-improved sense of space that the previous bathroom lacked.

Smart Sourcing: For the window, I tracked down a high-quality uPVC model that mimics the aesthetic of traditional wood offering the practical, maintenance-free benefits required for a humid bathroom environment.

Lighting with Intent: The glitter finish was only half the battle; the lighting had to be perfect. I carefully planned the lux levels and beam angles to ensure that at any time of day, the Italian paint 'performed' for Ali, reflecting light and creating a true sense of luxury.

The Result
A shimmering, modern retreat that feels so much bigger than before. By taking the stress of international sourcing and technical application off Ali’s plate, I was able to deliver a bathroom that is a pure reflection of her personality. Ali finally has her 'glitter sanctuary' - a bright, functional and deeply loved space where she can soak away the day in total style.
